Starting your first chat

Find a character, send your first message and set up chat the way you like it.

You can be chatting within a minute of signing up. Here's how to find a character and get a good conversation going.

Find a character

  1. Browse characters on the Home page, pick a category (Girls, Guys, Anime or Fantasy), or use Search characters.

  2. Tap a character to see their profile: their bio, personality, interests and gallery.

  3. Press Chat to start a conversation.

Want someone specific? Create your own character instead.

Send your first message

Every character opens with a greeting that sets the scene. Reply the way you would to a real person: react to what they said, ask something back, or move the story on. The more you give them, the more they give back.

Tip: tap the heart on any character you like. They'll wait for you under Liked in My AI.

Make it yours

  • Chat style. Open the chat menu at the top of the chat to switch between Texting (quick back-and-forth) and Roleplay (narrated scenes), and to set reply length, creativity and more.

  • Persona. Tell characters who you are with a Persona. See What are Personas?

  • Photos. Type show me followed by what you want to see, such as show me you at the beach. You can also switch the message bar to Image, or open the studio to pick a pose, outfit and scene.
