How do I edit or delete my character?

You can edit or delete a character while it's private or denied. Once it's submitted for review or public, it's locked.

Edit a character

1. Find the character in My AI.

2. Open More actions on their card or profile and choose Edit.

3. Make your changes on the two tabs, then press Save changes.

Profile tab

• Name, age and personality.

• Tagline: the first line people read on their profile.

• Bio: their backstory and world.

• Greeting: the first message they send in a new chat.

• Scenario: the scene your chats start in.

• Relationship to you, interests and categories.

• Voice: used for calls and voice messages.

A new greeting is sent at the start of new chats. To start an existing chat over with it, use Reset Chat.

Gallery tab

Getting ready to make a character public? When you press Make public on their profile, press Edit in the checklist to open this tab and add their photos and videos before you submit.

• Tick images and videos to show them on the profile.

• Star one to make it the profile picture.

• Hold and drag to reorder.

At least one photo has to stay on the profile.

The profile picture matters. Every new image of the character is generated from their profile picture. Star a different image and future images will be based on that one instead. It's a good way to lock in a change you made with Edit Image, such as a new hairstyle or tattoo.

Characters in review or public

A character that's waiting for review or already public can't be edited, made private or deleted. That's why the submit screen asks you to finish everything first. See Making a character public.

If a public character needs a correction, contact support with the character's name and link.

Delete a character

1. Find the character in My AI.

2. Open More actions and choose Delete.

3. Confirm.

The character goes for good, and your chats with them go too. This can't be undone.
